Our Amazon Shop is back online! We developed it years ago, than it went offline for some reasons and now we improved it and integrated it into our content management system.
Remember that you can deactivate ads on your forum / weblog by shopping at our amazon shop. Just send us an email with the things you are going to buy and as soon as we see your purchase in our amazon partner reports, we will deactivate ads on your forum. Chech out this link for details.
Of course you are welcome to buy something at our shop if you are not using one of our services

We added the buttons to login using an existing social network account to all layouts now. This opens your forum or your weblog on our network to a huge new user base that can start to contribute immediately without the need to register.
After logging in using this new feature on a forum or a weblog, you will have an account there. You can change your profile settings here without affecting the settings on your social network. If you enter a valid email address on your profile and request/change your password, you can log in directly with our login page or just contine to login using your facebook / twitter or google account.

Once again we moved our services to a new server environment, our remaining users should alredy recognize the increased performance and stability of the forums.
We are also planning to activly promote our service once again to increase the number of forums and weblogs (please take a look at http://hwl.hondos.org for more details about our weblog service).

| Improvement of the translation system |

You can now create different translation scripts for each of your template sets and add/delete translation variables.
This is usefull for completly new layouts where the default translation variables do not fit any more.

We added a default timezone field to the general settings. Before that GMT was used for guests visiting your forum.

It is now possible to upload FLV videos to posts.
Other video formats are not converted to FLV tho. We might add this feature in the future.

We finally added movie upload to our system. It is now possible to upload AVI,WMV and MPG videos to our server. FLV will follow soon. The filesize is currently limited to 20MB.
We do not allow any adult content and we will also remove videos that we find to be a little bit to strange

| Forms and multiple Templates |

The forms which we use with our user profiles can now also be used for forums. That means that you can add as many further input fields beside posticon, subject and body as desired.
Further one can now add multiple templates besides the default template and assign them to a forum. Together with the forms, this adds a variety of new possibilities to our system. You could for example create a forum where the posts are part of a homepage. Or you could create a forum where each post is an shop article, with all the necessary article information you need entered in a form.

You can now choose between
- yourname.hondos.org
- yourname.h-hosting.org
- yourname.ho1.org
and we can host any domain yourname.anywhere that you might own, you just have to contact support if you want to run your forum under your own domain as this is not yet available through our control panel.

Some days ago we uploaded an improvement for our image galleries which are now able to be organised in folders.
This improvement was necessary as we are planning to add personal image galleries for all forum members in the near future.

You might have heard of the very popular MMORPG World of Warcraft from Blizzard Entertainment. This game is all about questing and gathering items.
We have added a Bulletin Board Code to our system that allows you to link items in posts.
When you post something like
[wowitem id=22502]
It will look like that:
[wowitem id=22502]
The item will be displayed in your profile language.
We have also added a Item Search that will help you to find the item ids that you need in order to post them.

| New permission system and usergroups! |

We just installed a completely new permission system that is based on our new
usergroups.
Usergroups can have group moderators that are able to add/remove members to
their group. It is also possible to create open groups where every registered
user can join through the usergroups profile page.

We added a real person check for posting that can be activated at general settings. This is an image that displays a code that a user has to type in in order to be able to post and should help to fight mass spam messages posted through scripts.

 Weblogs now with Image Galleries |

We added image galleries to our weblogs, which allows all forum users to create private image galleries through their weblog.
This is a great improvement for all forum members, so please make sure that all the members of your forum get to know this.

 Improved users profiles |

There is this new page in the admin section called 'additional profile info',
where you can add additional fields to the profile of your users.
These fields have to be filled out at the registration and are visible at the
member profiles.
Feel free to add fields for the name of your online player, your babies, your
car or whatever you like.

| Some new features for the new year: Avatar upload and improved polls |

Here is what has been added recently:
- Avatar upload: Every user is now able to upload an avatar, the sizelimit ist 25k. Some of you have already found the new upload button in the profiles.
- improved polls: The adminisitration section of the polls has been added to our template system and we also added some features to the polls. Polls can have an ending date now and we have three different types of polls:
- results visible at any time (thats how it was until now)
- results visible after voting
- results visible after end of poll

This was because of an huge software update we uploaded today that changed our session handling.
Before that, we had to log you out when you visited our support forum and you could just be logged in to one of our forums at a time.
This is fixed now and should be a big improvement for people having troubles getting logged out to often.

Wir have been busy:
- new setting 'Edit timeout' in General Settings: this is the timespan for users to edit their posts. This has no effect on moderators or admins.
- Topic Moderation: allows a user to moderate the topics he created.
- Reply Own Posts: new permission to permit replies to own posts, usefull to prevent pushing of posts.

| New Feature: Image Galleries |

We just finished to add Image Galleries to our forum system.
You will find the new forum type 'Image Gallery' in your admin section. Every topic in a forum of this type is a foto album where you can upload images. Of course you can add text information to every image and your forum users can add comments.
Through our permission system it is possible to create private and public galleries. We will also add image galleries to our weblog.

From now on its possible to group forums into subforums, as you can see at the news section of our support forum.
You can do this by adding an 'Subforum Start' and an 'Subforum End' element around the forums you want to put into your subforum.
You can even create subforums within subforums if you really need to do that.

We will deactivate the ads on your forum for every purchase above $20 you make at amazon using our shop.
Prices, delivery and payment is done by amazon, buying at our shop is just the same as buying at amazon. Send an email to support@hondos.org after your purchase so we can deactivate ads. Please include in that mail what you bought and the total amount so we can assign the order.
The time we will deactivate ads depends on your purchase amount:
$20+ => 1 month ads deactivated
$40+ => 2 month ads deactivated
$60+ => 3 month ads deactivated
and so on, up to 6 month.

I have been remindet these days that we are not allowed to host adult material  . We added a passage to our TOS that prohibits the upload of adult material.
